Sun Valley Idaho - Part I

Last week we got back from our amazing trip to Idaho where we spent ten days on beautiful Sun Valley.  Today I am sharing a little about dining and the best huckleberry ice cream in town with you and for anyone who might want to visit at some point.  This was our second year in Sun Valley and it's one of my favorite summer vacation with the kids.  Everyone is still talking about our time there, and we can’t wait to go back again. Stay tuned for part II and III for activities, and places to visit. Have a wonderful weekend!

Blackened Alaskan Sockeye Salmon sandwich from Warfield Distillery & Brewery

Our favorite ice cream shop in Ketchum - Leroy's ice cream.

Wienerschnitzel at Grill at Knob Hill. The bomb!

Rasberry Mojito from Grill at Knob Hill.

Lefty's Bar and Grill sourdough burger was pretty good!

One more from Leroy's ice cream. So good!

Coconut shrimp from Dang Thai Cuisine was just the place for carb load after 16 miles of bike riding.

Huckleberry and strawberry ice cream from a la Mode.

Burrito at  Mama Inez. It was just ok...

Not Sac's Tasty hot dog from North Bay California, but Irvings hot dogs hit the spot after fly fishing.

Not a big fan of IPA or beer in general, but this one was pretty good.

DiscoGem: Lileds, a Sweet Reward from an Unexpected Source

Finding an undiscovered gem is one of the joys of exploring local neighborhood haunts. Once discovered, my husband likes to call them DiscoGems, short for 'discovered gem.' Last summer he surprised me by taking me to Lileds in Vallejo, CA, a DiscoGem for ice cream, chocolates and candies. The minute I entered the colorful shop it reminded me of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. I love the old school vintage feel and their ice cream is made on site with fresh ingredients. My favorite flavors are pineapple coconut and peach, which is only available in summer. Lileds was established in 1936 and Yvonne and her husband Vaughn Hardiman took over in October 2005. They are the fifth shop owners to run this wonderful creamery and confectionary.

Here with Yvonne Hardiman.
